Origami - Experiments in design

Origami experiments

It appears that I have been very quiet lately, with no posts for some time, but I can assure you that every spare moment I am working on something!
My latest challenge has been to explore design ideas using techniques found in origami. Before you start rolling your eyes, this is not the sort of origami we did as kids, with paper planes, cranes and other little animals. The sort of origami I am interested in is playing with more complex patterns and pleats.- ideas which eventually I plan to convert into my fashion designs.
Getting started took some patience and a few rubbish bins full later, here are some outcomes I have been playing with. All examples stared as a flat sheet of paper.

My 4 y/o daughter has a fascination with shells, so I made this to add to her shell collection

So this little experiment is a slight side track from my fashion design adventures, but ultimately it all links up together. I like to push the boundaries of design and this is helping me to think outside the box!! You can expect more examples in the near future.
