Task 2 arrived yesterday, and we have 2 days to complete it.
This task was to "Copy" approximately the example given by Shingo.... with minimal instructions, and figure out the pattern. Instructions stated that the final pattern must be in ONE PIECE.
The example was a bodice with 2 triangle boxes on top of each other, offset. We use the Box integration technique to achieve this.
My first thoughts were "Can I do this with a different shape/ idea, using the same principle?"
So I played around with different ideas and come up with a few designs.
First design idea
After spending more than half a day on this, it came time to cut it up and make the garment. I didn't get too far before realising that this was not going to work, as there was no way to break this down into ONE PATTERN PIECE!!! I was quite upset, because Id spent so much time on it, and really loved this design. But this whole TR Platform finals class is about learning and every time I do a task I learn through experimenting. I WILL make this design , as it can be done, but it will be more than one pattern piece.
For this task though I was back to square one.
As boring as it seems, I decided to copy the example given with no elaboration....(as instructed)
Boxes made and ready to be cut up.
finished ONE pattern piece
So that's task 2 done.
I'm needing you all to keep voting for me so that I can stay in this competition. Please don't forget to go over to the TR FINALS page and look for the photo of my design, then click "like" underneath it.
This will register your vote for me and hopefully keep me in the competition, avoiding elimination which will start taking place soon.
Thank you all for your lovely comments so far. I appreciate your support in this endeavour!
